Citizenship Development Society
Citizenship Development Society (CDS) was formed in response to a strong urge to foster good citizenship value amongst countrymen with the aim of revitalizing the democratic process for achieving the goals enshrined in our Constitution. The Society was registered on 17th April 1979 under the Societies Registration Act as a non- political, Non-sectarian and nonprofit making body. The Society organized its silver jubilee celebration in April 2005.
The vision which guided the founding members of the Society is the one contained in the preamble to the country’s constitution, which aims at securing to all its citizens Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. It has integrated the individual citizen, the fundamental unit of Indian polity with dignity and integrity of the nation which is the supreme. The constitution enshrines the right, responsibilities and duties of the citizen. Citizen’s active participation determines the quality of democratic governance. The focus of CDS is on the CITIZEN whose development hold the key to national prosperity
CDS believe that
Citizenship development should be value based and should aim at educating every person with respect to duties responsibilities of citizenship.
Citizenship education is vital to ensure quality of citizen’s participation. It should be undertaken on a country wide basis for all age group to produce citizen who is morally sound, productive and useful to society and nation
A MOVEMENT for the successful implementation of the culture of the Constitution is called for to make democratic process more vibrant and accelerate the pace of economic growth the social harmony.
There is urgent need to train a large number of trainers to play the role of Resource Persons.
The CDS has established the Centre for Research and Training in Citizenship Development (CRTC) which has developed wide ranging action programmers covering education, research, training national ethos and field work. It prepares course material and organizes Seminars/Workshops/Orientation course on different aspect of Citizenship Development namely Value Orient Education, Value Based Customer Service for Bankers, Value Based Public Service, Protection of Consumer Rights, Human Rights and Environment Education.

To inculcate social aptitude toward respect to women and to adopt “Zero Tolerance Polices for crime against women.

The CDS under its activities has bright out the Delhi Citizen’s guide to fulfill a long felt need to serve as a guide and ready reckoner for the citizens. The information in the guide book has been arranged in alphabetical order. The guide book contains wide information pertaining to all emergency situations as also the day-to-day need of the citizens. The information in this guide is authentic inasmuch as it was verified from various department of the government.
The CDS successfully organized on 10th March 2018 on “India Every Two Minutes Facing the challenges of Gender Violence” at IILM New Delhi.
